Welcome To My Blog

After ten years of hustle and bustle in Los Angeles, I have come to the quaint little town of Astoria, Oregon in search of some tranquility and self-exploration. With the captivating beauty of the Columbia River as a backdrop (and many rainy days) I am excited to spend time improving on my cooking skills, growing a garden and finally getting around to those creative projects I have put aside for so long.

Brown Sugar and Soy Glazed Pork Chops

-->
Pork Chops - Ingredients and Directions

In a large baking dish season pork chops with

Granulated garlic
Black Pepper
Granulated Onion
Brown Sugar
Cayenne Pepper (very lightly)

Add seasoning to each side then add about 5-7 small quirts of soy sauce straight from the bottle (on each side )

Marinate for 1 hr

Heat olive oil in large skillet at medium (or medium low) heat. Add pork chops.

Brown the pork chops and flip over. When you flip over, dump the remaining juice/seasoning mixture on top of the pork chops

Cook 10-15 minutes on each side. Cooking times will vary depending on your taste

Side Dish –Carrots and Broccoli with Olive Oil and Garlic

Chop one large carrot into one inch pieces
Cut up broccoli florets into similar sized pieces

In a mixing bowl, sprinkle olive oil over veggies.  For this meal I used “Herbs de Provence” infused olive oil, if you have something similar, I suggest using it to give it a kick, but regular olive oil works too

Add salt and garlic powder to taste. If you’re a garlic lover like I am, you can chop up a couple cloves and mix it in with the veggies

In medium saucepan add a tablespoon of olive and two tablespoons of water and heat

Once heated, add veggies and cover for 5-10 minuets, leave longer for softer veggies or less for crunchier

Pair both with an oven baked potato
